Well here we are in 2014 with Congress once again not addressing the tax credits that they extended for 12 months last year. We are left to wonder if a school teacher will be able to deduct $250 for supplies she pays for out of her or his own pocket. Sad, really. Also the Section 179 expense for property purchased in 2014 may or may not be renewed. That’s just two of many that we are concerned about since tax planning tends to revolve around these tax saving strategies.
As you get ready for the new year with a fresh start let’s hope that interest rates remain stable and that credit doesn’t get any more difficult to obtain then the past year. As tax rules are changed I will be the first to let you know. Be sure to see our Tax Flash feature on our website www.TeamZumwalt.com this week as the IRS announces it audit focus for 2014. This could affect you.
