Founded in 1883, by Benjamin Franklin Gilbert, Takoma Park was developed as a "summer resort" area, as a healthful alternative to Washington, DC's malarial swamps.  With a population of approximately 18,000 it rests along the upper northeast boundary of D.C.   Takoma Park in Montgomery County has it's own city government, police department, library and is served by Montgomery County Schools

Takoma Park is a perfect "bedroom community" for professionals.  It is a 15 minute commute to the middle of Downtown D.C. by Metro from the
Takoma Station on the Red Line.

Takoma Park is a friendly "laid back", independent, small town with liberal politics. The residents are politically active and have put in place a number of progressive measures such as the declaration of a nuclear-free zone

Hi Debbie - your introduction to Takoma Park is very thorough and prospective buyers will have a lot of insight into the community.   There is a very active real estate market and it is an obviously very popular place to live given the ratio of sales price versus list price.   Nicely presented.

This is a great overview of a lovely area!  The increase in average list price and average sold price is amazing...that seems like a much larger increase than many of the surrounding areas, is it?
