2014 BIG Blog Jumpstart at AR Challenge Yourself for Your Own Success
It was a challenge such as the one Lynn Friedman has offered us that got me started posting every day several years ago. Don't think you can do it? Why not try... what have you got to lose? And look at what you can gain.
We've been given a grace period so it begins this Monday, January 6 and ends on the 31st. Posts must be 300 words and include a photo/ video or some other kind of visual element.

Challenge Yourself for Your Own Success
Throughout 2013, ActiveRain members and staff sponsored some amazing and thought-provoking Challenges. Those contests encouraged us to to think about our businesses and about ourselves personally.
Now with the 3rd Annual 2014 BIG Blog Jumpstart at AR, you are invited to Challenge Yourself for Your Own Success. The idea is to move your personal Blogging skills up a notch or two. And one requirement is for each of us to reflect on the Community Guidelines of ActiveRain and the Weltanschauung of ActiveRain. The core values outlined by the Founders established the culture of ActiveRain. Those core values enable AR to stay the exceptional community we all enjoy.
So - no criticism intended as no one knows but you - when you joined, did you follow the instructions on the Staff 2012 post entitled "How to Get Started on ActiveRain"? Or perhaps you have been with AR since the dawn of time - when was the last time you read them over again?
When you read the "How to Get Started on ActiveRain" post, did you follow the clear request there - "BEFORE YOU START - These are REQUIRED and a MUST READ for ALL New Members - NO EXCEPTIONS!" The Community Guidelines and the Weltanschauung are those requirements.
After reading them, select an aspect that speaks to you personally, to your own experience or world view. Write a post about your choices in each topic.
Points will be awarded on the Honor System. When you finish, write to our Community Manager, the lovely Kerrie La Guardia, tell her you finished the Challenge and Kerrie will award the points to you.
3rd Annual 2014 BIG Blog Jumpstart -
Challenge Yourself for Your Own Success1 - START - 12:01 am PST - Monday, January 6th
and END on Friday, January 31st at 11:59 pm PST2 - YOU must write the posts yourself - not your grandmother, father-in-law, assistant, secretary or even your brilliant dog or cat or bird.

3 - Posts - one (300 word minimum) post a day for 26 days - including one about the Community Guidelines and one about the Weltanschauung. That leaves 24 posts on any topic you choose. One post per day from January 6th to January 31st.
4 - Visual Elements - Each post must include visual - YOUR CHOICE - a picture, an icon, a video, a slide show or a drawing in each post. Need guidance for topics? Blogging webinar next week can help. At the Inspiration Station, AR Staff suggestions will help. Also Lanre Folayan's post about topics is full of great ideas. Guidance for visuals? See the info or tutorial links below.
a.) Videos - Here are links for video options - WISTIA, Vimeo (tutorial), VIMEO website, Smilebox, YouTube (or another YouTube tutorial option Part One and Part Two).
b.) Slideshows - Use your own computer programs or one of these Windows Movie Maker, Animoto, PowerPoint, Flickr or Picasa.
c.) Graphs - Prepare a Graphs using your own computer programs or one of these ChartGO, Create A Graph, Graphs Made Easy, or Graph.
d.) Photos - Check your Photo Editor software or try one of these - Aviary or Photofunia or iPiccy.
e.) Icons - You might try IconFinder, Wikimedia Commons, Open Clip Art.
