Being Helpful To Other Agents Will Increase Your Business.

Sun rise

We all get them. The calls and emails from other agents that are asking for things that they really should be able to find on their own. A perfect example is an agent wanting HOA docs before they even show the property.

I get these types of requests quite often. And they can be anoying when we are busy.

BUT.......I have no issue at all sending them a link to the public records so they can pull up the docs.

We spend a lot of time bloging and and working social media to increase our internet presence and build relationships. My goal is to be the go to guy for all things Real Estate in the Orlando Florida. It would make ZERO sense to not help these agents if I can.

I have built my business for almost 20 years by helping other agents. Agents are used to other agents blowing them off. Why not be different? Why not be helpful and build up a stable of area agents that are just anxious to help you sell your listings?

Help as many people as you can. Everything else will take care of itself.

Just my thoughts.

My gripe is all the pre-closers that contact me looking for HOA contact information because they found the neighborhood through my blog. Generally not information that I will have, but my suggestion would be to talk to the listing agent as they should have had the seller complete the community disclosure statement, complete with contact info.

Great attitude, and I totally agree.   Why not help?  Especially when it has to do with a home we're trying to sell for our clients.  If data will help the potential buyer make a decision, go for it!

I remember the harsh responses from agents and the helping hand ones as well when I needed help. The ones that went the caring distance travel well with me in memory

Great post Bryant. When you help someone it always comes back to you multiplied in my opinion. I have no problem helping another Agent, and have found most Agents asking for help are seasoned, not new ! Most of the time it is a simple request. We can look at it as a pain,or an opportunity. The choice is in attitude. And of course in Tucson Real Estate, attitude is everything !

Bryant - Right you are. I think the expectation is that agents and brokers really won't help each other out, because we're all technically "competitors" in our local market. Helping others is good in general, and that includes within our business. Nicely stated.

There is a great quote, cant remember who wrote it, but it goes like this:  In order toa chieve what you want in life, help others to get what they want first.  Thank you for helping and suppoting your fellow agents.  We do the same at our company always.  Maybe that is why we are growing so fast right now

Bryant, I'm with you. I've had those HOA calls as well. Zig Ziglar had a great line that said, "You can get anything in life that you want if you help enough people get what they want." I've tried to live that way.

Bryant...wonderful post and very true! I'm reading the book, The Power of Nice, (husband gave it to me because I've always felt I was "too nice" to be an entrepreneur), and it reflects a lot of what you said. Helping others rules!

We jumped started our business by becoming very involved at our association. Connecting with other agents was instrumental when we started. We worked out in Poinciana and at the time there were only about 8,000 out here. It was too far for the Kissimmee agents to travel. So.....they referred their deals to us. It was awesome!!

Our slogan at the time was "Come on down to Tutas Towne. Your Realtor friendly Realtors"

A man after my own heart.  When you present an offer to a listing agent that you have a good solid and friendly relationship with, it makes a huge difference in the outcome of the offer and the climate in which the sale is made.  It isn't adversarial.  It's teamwork.  I have a buyer who wants to buy the listing your seller wants to sell.   Let's work together to get it done.   I never turn away agents that ask for help, or call to pick my brain, or ask a favor.  What goes around, comes around.

You are the go to guy for any and all information re: real estate. If the agents think to call you, of course, the clients will also. Hey, I've even called you for stuff. Gracious and good looking as always.

Bryant, thanks for your post.  I needed to hear this as my last transaction was with a real user-UNFRIENDLY agent.  I googled her and even her clients wrote terrible reviews about her.  It did make me feel somewhat better to know it wasn't me personally she was annoyed with, but in the end she has damaged her relationship with clients and that is a very sad thing!
