The Things You Learn When Blogging-Like In University Place Washington

Love the Puget Sound - which University Place Washington borders For over five years, I've been blogging about boomers and seniors and real estate and life and caregiving and family and moving and... I've learned a lot over the last five + years. Some things good. Some things bad. Some things exciting. Today I learned something that made the younger folk in my family quite excited. If my senior dad was still with us, he'd be dancing the jig as well! What in the world could that be, you might ask?

I wrote an article spotlighting the lovely town of University Place in Washington. This is one of several cities in Pierce County that is on the Puget Sound. It has grand schools, a lovely new civic center with the library, police department, city hall, and more. It has walking trails, and parks, and an excellent-sounding and resource-full senior center.

It also has a gorgeous golf course - the Chambers Bay Golf Course. It's on the Puget Sound, meaning my dad would have been in 7th heaven golfing there. The views on their website are spectacular. On top of the view of their first page, though, is what really caused excitement to ensue in my family.

There is a banner that states:

"Opening tee shot of the 2015

U.S. Open Championship starts in:

529 Days, 16 hours, 51 minutes, 30 seconds

529 Days, 16 hours, 51 minutes, 29 seconds

529 Days, 16 hours, 51 minutes, 28 seconds

529 Days, 16 hours, 51 minutes, 27 seconds

529 Days, 16 hours, 51 minutes, 26 seconds

and so on…

(7:00 a.m. Pacific time on Thursday, June 18, 2015)"

That's right! In a city right next door to where I live, where my Keller Williams Realty office is located, will be the 2015 US Open! I wrote and told that to one loved one who was quite excited. And her fave friend will be even more so. Even my senior mom, who grew to love the sport because of my sweet dad, will be ecstatic. Me? I hate to admit it, but I'm not too golf-y. Still, this should be quite fun and exciting, don't you think? Although, I think I'll work from my home office during that time period!!!!!

So, what new thing(s) did you learn blogging today? Inquiring minds would love to hear.
