Best Business Practice - Following Up

One of the most crucial elements in this business and to be considered a professional is to follow up with your prospects. Even when they visit an open house, a thank you note or email is important and professional. If you make representations that you will do something (i.e. sending out a CMA) - then you should do so in a timely manner. And you can always follow up with a phone call to make sure they received your email as well. It is another point of contact.

If you need a contact database management system to help you to maintain your organization, then utilize one. I use a database management system to assist me and to ensure that I stay in contact with prospects.

I follow up with Realtors as well - as I believe it is professional. If they send me an email asking me to send them feedback, then I cooperate with them. In the event we have a transaction in the future, I believe this should be considered.

I follow them up also.  I just don't want to be a nuisance where I turn them off.

Sharon, I think follow up is the mark of a true professional. I was complimenting another Realtor today on his excellent communication skills. We all need to keep talking with each other for better understanding.

Gary - thanks for writing and I agree with you that it is the mark of a true professional. I find it frustrating when other agents do not call back, and it does happen. I try and always be professional so we are building a better community.
