Home Staging Tips for the Bedroom

When staging your Montgomery County PA home for sale, it's important for the bedrooms to be inviting. You want potential buyers to want to crawl into your bed (a little weird, but true). When your bedroom is staged properly, buyers will envision themselves spending lazy Saturday mornings in that bedroom. When it's not staged properly, buyers will have a hard time looking past the negatives. Maybe it looks too small or it's cluttered. Maybe you have it painted your favorite shade of purple and it's just not inviting. To create a warm and inviting space, follow these home staging tips for the bedroom.

Paint
I can't stress enough the importance of paint color in a bedroom. A bedroom is supposed to give off a calming, relaxed feel. That means no odd colors on the walls like bright orange or purple. Neutral shades of beige, gray or even whites/off whites will give potential buyers that relaxed feeling. And touch up any chips or scratches on baseboards.

De-clutterHome Staging Tips for the Bedroom
When buyers see clutter, that's all that they see. They don't see the size of the room or the view out the window. It's hard for them to see past your stuff and see their stuff in the room. Take all the excess stuff/decorations off the walls and dressers. All that's needed are a few key accessories.

Furniture
Having matching furniture makes a huge difference in the appearance of a bedroom. Furniture can give off a "chaos vibe" when it's all different sizes and colors. At the very least, your furniture should match in color. A little elbow grease and some paint on your existing end tables/dressers can remedy that problem.

Home Staging Tips for the BedroomClean
Dust every surface and clean all windows. A well maintained bedroom let's potential buyers know you cared well for the house.

Bedding
Having the right bedding can mean the difference between inviting and "I can't imagine sleeping here" White, fluffy bedding accented with a pop of color adds to the relaxing feel you want in a bedroom.

Follow these home staging tips for the bedroom to ensure potential buyers see your bedroom as the relaxing environment they want to be in.

These are great tips!  Every seller should read this article.  When I was showing homes, I can't tell you how many times we would walk into bedrooms only to find the bed in disarray and the sheets not even clean and fresh-smelling.  ICK!

Suzanne, Your post is a great source of information for home sellers.  I have encountered several homes that have bright colored or very dark colored rooms that I felt would distract home buyers, but the seller did not want to change the paint. With today's busy lifestyles, buyers really want a home that they can just move their stuff in and keep on going.  While it's just paint...it can make a difference on a sale.

Bedrooms are a great place to add back romance to the home.

Place a pretty tray with a coffee cup and a book and a cheerful napkin on it to create a homy feeling.

One of my favorite things to do in an occupied home and if there is a print bedspread on the bed, turn it over if it is solid on the other side and then flap the print side over the top.

Here is one of my favorite bedrooms in one of the first houses I ever staged!

I agree Gene!

Glad I could help Jeffrey. And the same to you!

Michelle, it's an ongoing battle to try and get homeowners to understand the value in painting.

Beverly, It's all about the little touches that add so much warmth. Like the red in your photo!

Joe, homes that "pop", sell!

The master bedroom, especially, is so important.  I advise my clients that the kitchen and master are the two most impressionable rooms.

Suzanne, I agree a bedroom should be soothing and peaceful. The transformation you made is dramatic and will get the job done and help sell this house.
