Being the coldest day for several generations in our area got me thinking about Frozen Pipes and talking with Nick Kiniry of Long & Foster Insurance. The conversation morphed a little into discussing investment properties as well and the needs of insurance in light of frozen pipes. let me know what you think.

Good information Nick & especially appropriate for a day like today.  A friend of mine discovered the importance of this a few years back when pipes froze on 8 of his investment properties in a single weekend!

John I hope he had coverage, as was mentioned investment properties are not always covered unless you have extended coverage.

Grant, we had a home where the pipes burst in the house and flooded the hall powder room and entrance hall, nothing to do with turning off the outside faucets even.
