Keep Warm in Calvert County

There are several places residents can go throughout the day to keep warm in Calvert County during particularly harsh winter weather.The northeast has been hit hard over the last few days, with temperatures dipping into the single digit territory overnight.  Even during the daytime, Calvert County temperatures have been below freezing.  For some residents, that means they are coming home to an icebox after work.  If your home doesn't have working heat and you need a place to keep warm in Calvert County, there are places you can go.

During regular business hours, several community centers offer residents a place to keep warm in Calvert County.  Safe drinking water is available at each center as well.

  • Edward T Hall Aquatic Center (130 Auto Dr, Prince Frederick) - Hours of operation: 6am to 9pm Mondays through Fridays, 8am to 9pm Saturdays, 8am to 8pm Sundays.
  • Mount Hope Community Center (104 Pushaw Station Rd, Sunderland) - Hours of operation: 8:30am to 9:30pm Mondays through Saturdays, 12pm to 6pm Sundays. Contact: (410) 257-6770.
  • Northeast Community Center (4075 Gordon Stinnett Ave, Chesapeake Beach) - Hours of operation: 9am to 10pm Sundays through Thursdays, 9am to 11pm Fridays and Saturdays. Contact: (410) 257-2554.
  • Southern Community Center (20 Appeal Lane, Lusby) - Hours of operation: 8:30am to 10pm Mondays through Saturdays, closed on Sundays.

If you are looking for a way to keep warm in Calvert County because your power is out or your home heating system doesn't work, visit one of the community centers in your neighborhood.  Warming stations and clean drinking water are available at all centers.  Keep dry, keep hydrated and be vigilant.  We can all get through this bout of bad weather safe and sound together.
