Record Low Temps In The Western NC Mountains Wreak Havoc On Agent!!!

The weather in Western North Carolina and Northeast Georgia is currently seeing some record Batterieslows.  When the temperatures dip this low on the thermostat it can wreak havoc on a lot of things.

Batteries for instance!   Every morning before I step in the shower, I step on the scale.  Not only is it a force of habit and helps in keeping me on track with dropping a few pounds after the holidays.  This morning I stepped on the electronic scale and . . . nothing. Seriously??  Ok, note to self - stop by the drugstore and pick up a battery for the scale.

As I stand there standing on the scale thinking it will magically resurrect itself, in comes our daughter.   She’s trying to leave for work and, yep you guessed it -- her car battery is dead. Since Dad’s in bed with the flu, it’s up to me to move around a vehicle or two and jump her car.

Did I mention that it’s currently registering a big fat 1 on the thermometer?  The shower willTemperature have to wait as I grab a coat, gloves and keys and head for the car.  After moving the car into position I reach down and pull the lever to pop the hood and . . . nothing.  What?  You’ve got to be kidding me - the hood is FROZEN shut!!!

Life as my daughter knows it is over - she’s going to be late for work!  Oh the drama!  After waiting 20 minutes for the engine to warm up and melt the ice on the hood, it opens and we successfully get the car going and the daughter heads down the road.  As I’m putting my car back into it’s rightful place in the driveway I realize my hands are numb. I don’t think I have ever known such excruciating pain.

After finally get a HOT shower, I headed out.  On the way to the office I ran through the drive-thru at the bank to make a deposit.  I pull up to the window and hit the button and . . . nothing!!  My window is frozen shut!!!

Beach Snow

It got up to a sweltering 20 for a high today but good news, the weather man thinks it will be in the mid-50’s by the weekend.

Wow - after today that sounds like beach weather!

Stay warm!
