straw bale truth windowIstraw bale truth windown the Straw Bale Building world one of the more common traits in home finishing is installing a truth window. This started out as a proof for disbelieving guests; “yes it really is built of straw, let me show you…” but these days it is often just one more great chance to show off your creativity. I have pulled these shots together from this year’s CASBA home tour. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do.

Interesting! I would hate to have to pay the insurance on that home though!

  • Susan, Insurance has not been a particular problem for straw bale home owners. Neither has financing. the vast majority of them are just considered wood framed, stuccoed, houses with cellulose insulation. Because that is what they are! The new codes will make it even easier.

Michael - what an inventive way to showcase a straw-bale home! I love the idea! Do you have more pictures? The interior design looks awesome!

  • Thanks Mary, These are actually from a few different homes that I was able to tour last weekend with CASBA (CAlifornia Straw Builders Association) on the way home from the annual spring builders conference. The homes and the families that lived in them are all beautiful!
