Excuse me Mr OR Ms Realtor | Can you tell me why you charge 6%?

whySo you want to know what your Realtor does to sell your home? Here are my thoughts: Inspired by Broker Bryant's earlier Post http://activerain.com/blogsview/428844/Real-Estate-Radio-USA

My answer to the real estate commission question is this... ask a few of my former clients if I was worth EVERY penny that I was paid? Followed by some distinctive questions like: "what's important about selling your Tampa home to you?" It may be that a FSBO sign in the front yard or a flat rate MLS company just may be the best option for you. We'll ask some very thought provoking questions, listen, and tell you the truth!

What most people do not realize, is we are paid for RESULTS and ONLY results! We don't make a dime until we have done EVERYTHING we said we would do.

We take all of the risk.

Fuel, Ads, Marketing, time, expertise, skill, liability, E & O Insurance, negotiating skills (that will bear you the highest possible price the current market will bear), overhead expenses required, & knowledge are all just SOME of the expenses we encounter as agents, weather we sell a home or not! When was the last time your agent asked you for a retainer fee?

We give 10x the value received to our clients that have chosen to hire my team and I to serve them during a real estate transaction.

Think about it...

  • Would you hire a dentist without a drill?
  • A Doctor with NO knowledge of medicine?
  • An Attorney without a law degree?
  • A Builder without a hammer, nails and a Contractors license & no experience?

So tell me... is the Risk, Liability, and all of the other expenses worth your time & advance money without the skill and the tools to do the job?

"That's a decision only YOU can make Mr & Mr's Jones.".

Too bad there are Realtors that think less of themselves and charge a lower commission rate.

To date- I have had not one negative comment from a client on the commission I was paid--- I bust my butt to give them the service they deserve, and in turn- they don't complain about the fee

Hey Katrina, If it's one thing the consumer has it's choices!!! There are many different models in our industry. The real estate business is very competitive and there is a plan for everyone. That's what I don't understand about the DOJ lawsuit. OH well just keep doing what works for you and your customer/clients. I know I will. Thans for the almost link love:)

I never thought of it like this before, I have a new prospective on my original thoughts of why realtors charged 6-7& while others may have a flat fee.  I guess with anything in life, you pay for what you get!

Katrina:Sister night owl: That was really a great and informative post. Now, that I have been a realtor for a little while. I am NOT cutting my fee down anymore. Yes, the client has many agents or agent+lenders to choose from out here but I believe I can offer services that are well worth my pay. By the way Katrina, what do you say when the clients ask you to cut your commission?

Although I agree 100% to everything you say....competition is tough, and is inevitable to negotiate with sellers the commission rate and still offer FULL SERVICE REPRESENTATION with no shortcuts...
