The Katy Family YMCA is hosting an open house and fitness festival on Saturday January 11, 2014. The open house starts at 10 AM and lasts until 2 PM. This event is open to the public and of course is free of charge.
The YMCA will also have several fitness demonstrations. Numerous health related vendors will be on hand to shop attendees their various products, answer questions and certainly develop future sales. Tours of the YMCA will be given.
If someone joins the YMCA ( new member) before January 13, 2014 there will be no basic joining fee of up to $100 assessed. Most health clubs from what I understand are charging a joining upfront fee and asking all to sign a contract is normal. The Katy YMCA offers numerous programs for adults and children. One example is a diabetes prevention program will begin on January 27, 2014 which will discuss how to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
The Katy Family YMCA is also offering a free defensive driving course on Saturday January 11, 2014 from 9 AM until 3 PM . This course is being held at The Fellowship at Cinco ranch which is physically located across the street from the YMCA. This class is open to folk 16 years or older. They ask for attendees to bring a lunch and register by calling 713-899-2090.
My father-in-law belongs to the Katy YMCA and he really enjoys going to the Y to work out and just hang out. We already belong to LifeTime Fitness in Katy but I always keep an open mind about these types of things. I have to say I am enjoying my workouts at LifeTime and my body is getting use to weight lifting once again.
