As you know this year, Easter is this Sunday.  Why is it so early this year? Easter always comes on the Sunday after the first, or Paschal, full moon following the first day of spring.

Spring arrives on Thursday and the moon will be full on Friday, the earliest Paschal moon since 1913. And that means Easter, the Christian holiday marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is this Sunday. It won't come this early again for another 220 or so years.

By the way, it turns out my "Irish Luck" story I posted on St. Patrick's Day is not true, at least according to snopes.com.  Oh well, it was a great story and we can now attribute it to some Irish blarney.

Hey, is this story about how early Easter is true?

Seriously, though.  I had heard that story before (the St Patrick's Day) and I used to be the type to jump in and go to posting Snopes.com as an authority on stuff like that, but I've mellowed in my online years and who knows...maybe snopes ISN'T the authority he thinks he is anyway.

How much do we really KNOW about this Snopes guy anyway?  Is he in anyway related to Wesley Snopes? Has he ever appeared on the History channel? 

I mean, really, let's think this Snopes guy over a little before we put the St Patties Day story to rest! =)

Ron - Glad to hear you are mellowing, it is so much easier to enjoy something and not worry about questioning it.  I suspected it was probably not true but it was a fun read and seemed appropriate to tell on St. Patrick's Day.  I do have it on good authority that this sunday is really Easter.....a rabbit told me!

Duane - You are right about early, we are seeing an early surge in activity here in the Sacramento area and I love it.
