This past weekend I was very proud of our Windermere Real Estate office. Although we only currently have 13 agents in our office, 7 of us volunteered for the entire weekend, Saturday and Sunday to man our booth at Anthem Days. Now you may say, big deal. Well, the purpose of our being there at the event was not to hock our wares so to speak. We were there to raise funds for one of the local charities, We Care of Anthem and one of the events the organization conducts, Emma's Run.
Emma's run is a 5k/10k fun run charity event to raise money for a family in Anthem who's 6 year old daughter, Emma, was accidentally run over by her father as he was backing out of his driveway three years ago. It is a testament to the Anthem community, and exemplifies why I love living there, that they would join forces every year to put on such an event.
Which leads me back to our Windermere office. The past weekend we conducted an event called the Human Hamster Wheel in our booth. The premise behind the event was that each of us would run on a treadmill (donated by Sweat, of Anthem) until we raised $100. For some of us it took an hour or more of running. All in all we raised $950 even though turn out for Anthem Days this year was less than previous years due to weather and highway construction.
The fact that our office took the time out (and we all know time is money in real estate) for a local cause really made me proud to be a member of our Windermere team.
