In the Content War, is the Disinterested Buyer Your Biggest Enemy?

The disinterested buyer is a formidable enemy. They are smart, cunning and unwilling to take the time to hear or what you have to say. If content is the name of the war in this day and age, then the disinterested buyer is your biggest opponent. Once you defeat them, you've overcome the biggest hurdle you have to face.

Enjoy and reap the rewards because your talents are immense.

Seriously though, how many messages do you ignore daily? Hourly? Minutely? (I know that's not a word but you get the idea).

In truth, marketing is a complicated business. While there are plenty of blog posts on Active Rain about online marketing, many of which could be potentially effective, your online efforts mean nothing if the disinterested never becomes an interested buyer.

An article published by Forbes, "If Content Marketing is a War, What Enemy Are You Fighting?," is a great place to start developing strategies to defeat the disinterested buyer.

At the top of the list is "the art of building relationships." I agree that this is probably the most crucial aspect of building a successful business. Most business are nothing without their clients, so effectively creating a trustworthy environment where you clients trust what you can do for them, and what you have to say, is key.

If building successful relationships is the cornerstone of any successful business, than making sure your customers are always satisfied is just as important, especially in a content war. Be willing to regularly keep it up to date if any information may be time sensitive at the time it is published. It doesn't have to be perfect but make it as relevant as possible.

In addition, it's important that the information being shared is always presented truthfully and with integrity, so potential consumers know that you're there to make their lives easier, not lie to them. Trust is crucial to any relationship that wants to go the distance. Make sure you are a trusted source above all else.

Note: the article stresses that we should always ask permission before interrupting the consumer's day, and this is an important piece of success marketing. Online marketing is more forgiving in that you can present the information at any time during the day and consumers can chose whether or not they want to open it.

In the end though, be respectful, be truthful and be human, even when you market yourself (and your business online). Marketing is not easy but it can be successful with the right tools and attitude.
