New Year's Resolution - Cancel The Premium Cable Channels!

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Florida Network Realty BK 3030920

I have had HBO for a few years, mainly because they have one show or another I like to watch. The most recent was True Blood.

Yesterday, I managed to get my Smart TV to download Netflix, and started with Orange is The New Black - which is hysterical and very smartly written.

With the abillity to watch all of Netflix for $8 a month, I'm really wondering why I would continue to spend any dinero on HBO or any other premium channel when I have this whole library available to me!

Good question, Carol. We have Netflix on Roku, but get fast internet through our cable company, otherwise I might do without cable at all.

I can see why having NetFlix would be a better financial decision than having the premium channels.

Awsome idea. We love Netflix and our cable bundle with Time Warner is almost a car payment. We are cutting this year as well.

When everyone went to HD , we changed TV's and went to the Antenna Channels.  They cover most everything and it's FREE.  No monthly cabe bills and we get about 18 channels ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, NIT, OBS, Local WX, and I don't remember the others.

Thant's enough entertainment for us, plus we have a DVD for movies.

Hi Carol, I am glad you wrote this, I have these premium channels and most of the movies are things I don't watch. Time to cut  out the crap.

Good morning Carol. My son-in-law hooked us up and we set up Netflix a number of months ago. We reduced our cable cost by half. That is what I call a good investment.

Elva - I've been looking at Roku....my internet is broadband, but not thru the cable company.

Chris Ann - I can't wait to make the call!
Li - the way we consume media, and the flexibility are a big part of the overall picture!

Rob - so far, I have nothing bad to say about it!

William - I know - I don't watch all the dang channels either!

Alan - stick to it and do it soon!

Larry - it's true: most of the cable channels don't REALLY have that much that's worthwhile.

William - I'm so looking forward to cutting that cable bill...for the amount of time that I'm hope and watching live tv, it's ridiculous!
Joe - it's amazing isn't it?

Wayne - glad to hear it!

Conrad, Conrad, Conrad......are you technology adverse?  LOL, kidding!

Carol, I followed Conrad's post to you. I have been wanted to learn how to use the Netflix service. We use Comcast and when I get a movie from "on demand" it charges me through Netflix but it seems I should be able to get them directly. Do I have to have a Smart TV???
