Kelly's Kickin' Cancer Benefit

Fine Line Music Café, April 11, 2008, 8:00 PM

Fine Line Music Cafe is located at 318 First Avenue North, in Minneapolis, Minnesota 55401.

Kelly Kristine Andrews has been diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer and is just 27 years old. She has never smoked, is a vegetarian, and while enjoying life like any 20-something, has always taken good care of herself. There is no logical reason for Kelly to have this horrible illness. Statistically, her situation is extremely uncommon for someone so young and healthy. While intense rounds of radiation have significantly decreased the size of the original tumor, the chemotherapy was not effective and the cancer has spread. Her fight toward survival just got a lot more difficult, but giving up is simply not an option.

Naturally, the medical bills are piling up. Kelly needs to very seriously focus on integrative treatment as her U of M medical team exhausts its options. There are integrative treatment programs available such as those offered by Cancer Treatment Centers of America ("If you're looking for a fight, you've come to the right place"). Extremely expensive yet very promising programs such as these are not fully covered by insurance. We all agree that there is no price too high for her recovery, and this is where you can help: The Fine Line Music Café will host a benefit for Kelly Andrews on Friday, April 11th, 2008 at 8 p.m. Please join us!

This is a call for your help. Your contribution will be more appreciated than you can imagine. Please email www.kellysbenefit@gmail.com with your intention to donate money, goods or services for the silent auction/prize drawings. Also, visit http://www.kellyskickincancer.com/ for complete details as they become available. Check back often - the site is a work in progress and will be updated frequently. Donations via check can be written to "Kelly's Cancer Fund' and sent to:

Bremer Bank, Roseville; Attention: Manager, Kathy Welle

Good luck with your benefit.  It is hard to raise money right now because there are so many in need.

April, I'm not in your area but I will drop something in the mail to help. Can't tell you how many people I come across in my foreclosure prevention business who's lives get turned upside down when facing serious illnesses such as this.

Gayle - you are so right.  There are many in need. I hope our economy gets better quick - with more money available - more people can be helped.

Hello April and thanks for letting me know about the benefit concert at the Fine Line!  I have a meeting this afternoon with the Twin Cities Musicians' Union in Minneapolis (I'm on their Board of Directors) and I'll get the word out about the Fine Line event to see if we can find some way of helping out with promoting it.

The Fine Line is a great music venue and I hope the event is a big success!  I'll do what I can to get the word out.
