The Government Do Not Call List

By
Real Estate Agent with Wayne M Martin

Our government does it best to protect the interests of its citizens. One move in that disrection is the national do not call list. Prior to its enactment I, like most people, received a few annoying calls per month. After registering for the protection the law intended to provide, only those who were performing a survey or political calls were allowed. Good for the citizens.

Not so fast. The rate of annoying calls went up. Did I sign up for the national feel free to solicit list? Enforcement is a joke. These robo-calling operations block the incoming call number and dial for dollars.

The latest daily call is from someone claiming to save me money if I refinance my freddie mac or fannie mae mortgage. I need to call immediately to take advantage of the opportunity. Give me a break and quit calling! I do not answer the phone when caller ID says "number not provided!"

I should be mad but then again I remind myself "it is government work!" Then I press delete on the answering machine! Wish I could press delete for some of the elected officials in Washington! Enjoy your day!

Good morning Wayne. I'm actually a little tired of signing up for the do not call sites. It just seems like the system is broken, as I continue to get calls. Have reported them, but nothing seems to help.

You are so accurate about the number of annoying calls Wayne.  It must be 5 or 6 every day.

I refer to the "do-not-call" list as a provider of numbers to solicit. Seems once you sign up the number of annoying calls increase! Time to jetison the land line!

Yeah it the usual gov't trying to help but...  I police my phone and often let calls go to voivemail.  I don't answer blocked ID calls.  I seem to have this strange ability to remember numbers and know if it is a client, prospect or some other number I have called within the past 3-4 months.

Yes, this list and it's implementation is a total fiasco.  And the phone providers love it as they try to sell all sort of add-ons to block calls.

Hi Wayne.

I get calls all the time. I am on the list as well. As soon as I tell them I am on the list they hang up. But the callas still come with frequency.

Have a great day in Fort Myers.

Best, Clint McKie

I have to say that I also get a lot of junk calls on my cell-phone.

Good luck and success.

I have also experienced a recent increase in the number of junk calls on our home phone. Sometimes, I wonder if we will be forced to change the phone number that we have used for many years.

Charities were exempted from the DNC law too and we all know that not all charities are created equal. Some spend 80% of their funds on salaries to enrich their owners.

Wayne, I am annoyed with these calls too. I fact I started a blog on it and really said how I feel I will wait a few days and publish it so I can let me ire subside.

Hello Wayne,

I love the "do not call" list, but I wish they would add a "do not send me junk mail" list!
