Agents often come to me with this question... "What can I do to improve my business"?
Following these 6 steps will help improve not only your business but the quality of your life.
1. Stop blaming all the stuff in your life that you don't like on others and start taking responsibility for the good as well as the bad in your life. Did you every notice how quick folks are to take responsibility for all the good in their lives and how quick they are to blame everyone else for all the bad stuff? If you want to improve your business look in the mirror and say... "If it is to be, it's up to me"... that's right you and only you are the boss of you, unless your are a child.
2. Stay mentally prepared. To become successful at anything you need to be motivated and mentally prepared for the every day ups and downs of your business. Your mindset is critical to your success.
3. Walk the walk and talk the talk. How you carry yourself is an important factor in getting people to listen to what you have to say. Know what you're talking about. Preparation for every situation is vital to your success. Do you present yourself as a professional? A professional is defined as one who has learned knowledge.
4. Choose to feel excited about what you're doing, remember only you are in control of your own emotions. Be enthusiastic and passionate about helping all that come to you for assistance and guidance.
5. Pay careful attention to who you are "hanging around" with. Are you around people who are passionate about what they do or negative people who complain about their job, their income, their life? Have you every heard the saying, "energy is contagious"? If you want your clients to feel energized about working with you then you must first present energy to them.
6. Remember, if your business isn't growing and moving forward, it's stagnant and will soon be left behind. Complacency is an issue that all real estate agents face. The question is how do you fight complacency? Start by forcing yourself to question your limits. If your business isn't growing it's dying. Working to the best of your ability for the duration of your real estate career is the only way to keep your business growing and moving forward.
