Choices seem to be limited with the
precast concrete fences.
I have seen these precast concrete fences in many apartment communities, shopping centers and office building throughout the Sacramento region and thought that it would be fairly simple to repair them. Since the product is sold in pieces, it would be just a matter of finding the manufacturer and get some.
So I went to the site to view the job and got a chance to see the damages and get an idea as to how they were constructed. It is when things have been broken or damaged that we get a chance to see how it was build. These concrete walls consist of some basic designs that, on a lighter scale, resemble a child’s construction toys.
The precast concrete structure that I saw consisted of concrete columns with these precast concrete pieces dropped into a slot on both columns. No fasteners or cement is used to hold it together, gravity and the slots hold everything in place.
So I started calling around to find the concrete products that I needed. First I had to find the manufacturer or distributors that carry this stuff and then see if it matched in design. I spent a lot of time going through several people, and email my photos to discover that this is going to be tough, if not impossible to get.
What I have learned today is that the manufacturers do not sell their own products in pieces. They will construct walls and fences with the precast products that they produce, but will not sell to you to fix it yourself. They said the profit margins are too low to produce such limited numbers. But they will fix it for you with their crew.
The last gentlemen stated that the minimum job cost is $2000.00.
I think we will pass this one back to the owner of the property.
