Giving My New BOX BELT A Test Run For My Hard To Place Lockbox

Giving My New BOX BELT A Test Run For My Hard To Place Lockbox

Giving my new BOX BELT a test run for my hard to place lockboxThere are times when you have a listing where finding good placement of a lockbox can be difficult. Here in the Portland Metro area, it's not uncommon to have to wade through mulch and shrubbery (often wet from rain) and having to bend way down to open a lockbox that's hanging on the hose bib or gas meter. I do understand why a seller would not want a lockbox on the front door, so this gives some options.

A local REALTOR® (and fellow AR'er) Patrick Krause, owner of Soldera Properties, has invented a gadget called the Box Belt which gives you the availability to hang your lockbox from odd shaped places or perhaps front entry beam posts that are at eye level. I'm giving one a try at my wonderful floating home listing where lockbox placement can be dicy if hanging on a rail where the key can accidently fall into the water.

I purchased two Box Belts as well as two cables for areas that I'd be more concerned with theft..athough anyone that is really looking to steal a lockbox will be able to with a pair of bolt cutters. So far it's working well since the only other place for me to hang the lockbox was the hose bib. If you want to check it out, head over to BoxBelt.com!

Box Belt -- a great idea! Let us know how it works for you; maybe I should get one, too.

Hi Lottie, So far it's staying nice and tight in its spot. I was worried it would slip down after agents started using it. I do love that it's at a nice level.

Looks like a handy tool ;-)  Recently, I had some thieves break into one of my lockboxes on a vacant home... and sadly they cleaned the place out.

Now that's an idea that could actually make our life a bit easier. The box belt sounds great.. How does it not slide down though?

Hi Mel, OMG..that is crazy and a major hassle for both you and the seller. They pried open the lockbox for the key? Seems like it would have been easier to break a window.

Hi Andrea, Hmm..hard to explain, but it has a that thing where you can pull it tight around what ever object you have it hanging on and then the excess belt part goes into this covered place with velcro. We just switched over to the Sentrilock from Supra, and they say it should be upright. The shackle seems a bit smaller so harder to put around places without them being on an angle. This does solve that problem.

Hi Peter, this looks a bit nicer that a chain and if you feel that the location warrants a bit more security, the added cables works. I just wish the heavy duty cables came in black to match the BOX BELT..but since this is a fairly new gadget, I'm hoping they will take suggestions!

I am wondering if a real estate agent invented this neat gadget.

Hi Debbie, Never thought to use twist ties!

Hi Margaret, It was indeed by a local real estate agent/owner Patrick Krause, owner of Soldera Properties here in Portland, OR.
