It’s Chinese New Year, 2014- Happy Year of the Horse!

 

2014 is the Year of the Horse and the Chinese New Year will be celebrated on year of the horseJanuary 31, 2014!   There are many good Asian restaurants in Palm Beach County where you can celebrate but why wait?

You can still attend Ohsogatsu at the Morikami Museum in Delray Beach.  The event had to be postponed from last week due to the heavy rains and floods we had.  But this weekend calls for sunny skies and highs in the mid 60’s!

The Japanese traditionally celebrated the New Year (Oshogatsu) when the Chinese do however, many  celebrate the New Year just as we do… January 1st.

WHEN:     Sunday, January 19, 2014

TIME:       10 am to 5 pm

ADMISSION:  $15 (adults)

                            $10 (children)

                 FREE (for children under 3)

- DIY Daruma Wall

-Open Air demonstrations of Taiko and Koto

And to bring it into the Social Media age….

-a scavenger hunt using Instagram!

morikamiThere will also be a Kirin beer Garden, Sake Station, and other Food Vendors.

Parking:  visitors can park for free on site.

BONUS:  members enjoy free admission to the event.  Not a member?  You can join at the event and receive a 10% discount on your membership as well as free admission to the event.

Tip:   Try to arrive early.  While parking is free and on-site, the closer lots will fill up.

Dorie- growing up in Houston we had several dinners that our family would attend!  YUM... just thinking of the food.
