Monday Motivation - A new blog post each week intended to inspire and motivate. Hope your week's off to a great start!
"If you can't fly, then run. If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl. But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward"
-Martin Luther King, Jr
This quote was appropriate today for a couple of reasons, the obvious being that it's Martin Luther King, Jr day. The other reason I like it is as a reminder to just keep moving forward, no matter at what pace. While MLK is known for the civil rights movement, this particular quote can be drawn across every walk of life and area of business.
Many businesses die because they fail to heed this advice - they remain stagnant. It is always the innovators, the one's looking for a new way to do things, a better way to do things, that are the ones set up for long term success. Will there be mistakes along the way? Yes. Will moving forward sometimes have negative results? Yes. But the alternative, remaining stagnant will ALWAYS lead to failure.
It's usually the businesses that first learn & take advantage of the latest technology that succeed & profit the most, but the tough part is to keep moving once you HAVE had success. Sure, the first company to ever do business via the internet probably had a great boost in profit, but do you think they'd still be around if they still used their first dial-up modem in today's world?
Bottom line is that no matter where we are, in the back of our mind we have to remember that we're never done, there's always something we can do - something new, or something old that can be done better. So as we get this week started, let's all take some time to remember the good that MLK brought to our world, and then let's get moving!
