Phoenix Buses Go Green

In an ongoing effort to reduce air pollution, lower emissions, and use less fuel for our city buses, Phoenix Buses Go Green!

120 new buses will be hitting the Phoenix Buses Go Greenstreets pretty soon.  36 are already out there so you may have seen them.  Old buses will be phased out with all 120 hitting the city streets by May, 2014.  Phoenix's Public Transit Department has named their mission as "Green and Clean for 2014."  Phoenix Buses Go Green.

Phoenix hasn't seen new buses in 7 years, so these should be a welcome sight for riders.  The buses will also have reflective decals to make them even more visible to other drivers. And the upholstery has been tested for resiliency as to stains, making them more durable.

The new buses are being purchased at a savings of $35,000 each, so the cost savings is also a bonus for the city.

So the next time you're driving around Phoenix and notice the new buses, remember "Phoenix Buses Go Green!"

Hi Jan, Our buses are using natural gas. I haven't quite figured that out but have been told it is more ecologically friendly. It is a good thing that Phoenix is looking to the future too.
