BEE a Team Player! I love watching kiddie movies that have a learning lesson. I went to Blockbuster three days in a row and finally someone returned "The Bee Movie". Now, imagine this half a century 'old' lady walking into Blockbuster for three days with no children, same counter lady and me asking, "Did anyone return the Bee Movie??????" and for two days a solemn face when the answer came back.....a no.
No, no and finally a yes. Like a child's sheer joy at getting a new toy, I'm sure I looked the same way at hearing the word, "Yes" and with lit up eyes and mannerisms of the utmost joy. I'm sure it was just as my children looked in their younger years and when I asked them if they'd like to go to the movie theater. I presume that's why I still enjoy the kiddie movies...remembering those times passed by where only fond memories lay in my memory bank to dredge up for a grin only beknownst to .....me.
Okay...I'm back now...you see how those fond memories get us sidetracked?
The Bee Movie is surely a treasure to watch with your little ones...or with your husband :) With a lesson to learn in each (or maybe as George Souto said, leave it to me to find something related to Real Estate in a movie)
Long story short, the Bee Movie is about a bee named Barry Bee Benson (voice/star is Jerry Seinfeld who actually co-wrote the script with two others as well as produced the film).
- Barry Bee Benson graduated from his 3 day college (life is too short I tell ya) and he only had ONE chance to pick his "lifelong" job. (I finally got to the point in my life where I found a career I love but it took MANY chances and years; as well as trial and errors to get to Real Estate.)
- He goes outside the hive before making his decision and he breaks the almighty rule of "speaking to a human". (We all take a big chance....a big risk....to put all aside to try our hand in the Real Estate Industry. How would we know if we didn't try?)
- He listens to 'the human' and finds out that humans have been stealing their honey and decides that his 'purpose in life' is to sue the humans. (I have found that if I hear one thing and I'm not totally sure about the 'whole picture....to get a second...even third opinon and that has given me more insight and knowledge to make a sound decision)
- He wins the lawsuit.....but at a very high cost of negative consequences. They got back all the honey and had so much that they didn't need to work to make more and all the bees were out of a job and since bees usually pollinated the flowers....all plant life was dying. (Jumping into something without doing our due diligence can be at a high cost to our reputation and business. Get all the facts and data before 'assuming' and jumping in something you know nothing about.)
- To right the wrong, the 'human' and Barry Bee Benson go to California to get the last of the flowers to spread around to re-pollinate the world. (When I make a mistake I immediately try to correct it and by all means get off my tush and bring it forefront. I do not let 'false pride get in the way of righting a wrong!)
- The bees get their jobs back and give the honey back to the humans....for they realized they were truly not happy without their livelihood of pollinating and making honey. (Never step on the toes of our peers and others to 'get what we want' without looking at the whole scope of things. Once the damage is done....we may not be able to recoup what is lost. Reputation is the most important thing we have in our business. Lose that...and you lose everything.)
Moral of the Story: With a common cause it brought everyone (the humans and bees) together to realize that working together would once again bring back not just the industry but save the plantlife in the world.
Teamwork is key to the success of the Real Estate Industry. With teamwork and working side by side with our peers and everyone involved in the industry and our transactions....... we will have a growing successful 'breed'.
* Following up will get you the movie....and the client :)
