The United States Postal Services Fails To Deliver Again
I mailed an envelope at 9:00am at my local post office on January 13, 2014. It was a regular envelope weighed and postage paid at the post office.
The envelope was deposited in San Jose, CA and delivered to San Diego, CA.
The envelope reached its destination this afternoon. Not bad - it only took 10 days to get there.
This is better than the 21 days it took to ship a package from Scottsdale, AZ to San Jose, CA.
Had I needed to re-mail the documents I would not have used the United States Postal Service. I would have gone to FedEx and sent them overnight delivery as the documents are time sensitive.
It is getting to the point where every time I drop mail at my post office I pause for a moment and wonder how long it will take to get there. I do know that when something absolutely positively has to be somewhere in a timely manner, I do not trust the U.S.P.S. to get it there.
I'd like to follow the path of a letter that takes 10 days to be delivered less than 500 miles. What on earth happens to them? Where do they go? Are they mis-sorted and sent to another place and then routed back to the intended destination? I wonder how many tax returns are lost every year? Yikes, now that is a scary thought.
Like everything in life ... nothing is 100% - 100% of the time.
People make mistakes! That seems to be the theme for January.
Juli Vosmik and Bruce Walter might get a kick out of reading this. Juli mailed the package mentioned above from Scottsdale and Bruce joined in on the lost gingerbread men fun. I'm still smiling about that. I'm also still working off the pounds I gained from eating all those cookies! And thanks to Bruce, I discovered a great new easy to make brown rice and Quinoa dish.
