Basements are common in the Northern Virginia market and finding a home with one isn’t a problem but, in Alexandria few fall into the single family home and under $400k category. Basements create great storage, a place for the kids to play, or even a location for the coveted man cave. Many buyers in the Alexandria area looking for a single family home with a basement.

There are currently 8 single family homes for sale in Alexandria with a basement priced under $400k.

Lowest Priced: $300,000, 3 bedroom/2 full bath, Springbank Subdivision

Highest Priced: $396,000, 3 bedroom/2 full bath, Virginia Hills Subdivision

Average days on the market in 2013 for homes with a basement in Alexandria priced under $400k was just 13 and seller subsidy was zero. There are currently 25 homes in pending status and all but 8 of the homes are short sales or bank owned. Finding a single family home with a basement priced under $400k in Alexandria is possible but, buyers need to be aware that it’s a competitive price range. I would have thought that many homes had basements in Alexandria in all price ranges but that is not the case. This is good information for buyers.
