North Haven GardensNorth Haven Gardens is having a special class this Saturday for those who are interested in creating a home garden. Introduction to Home Vegetable Gardening will teach beginners the basics of planting for the first time. Did you know that it is time to plant onions and leeks?

This is an opportunity to learn how to evaluate and improve your soil.  North Haven Gardens sells kits to build raise beds, if you prefer to prepare a bed with one of their custom soil mixes.

One of the things I love about the Staff at North Haven Gardens is that they are gardeners! They will discuss the varieties of vegetables that grow well in North Texas and teach attendees about the classifications of vegetables.

Hurry!  You must register for this class by noon on Friday, January 24, 2014!

Sharon, It isn't too early to think about our spring gardens. We have too many deer, rabbits and chipmunks to have anything left for us. It would be nice to have fresh veggies in the backyard

Sharon, that is great information especially for people who moved newly into the area.  Every region has its own rules and practices for gardening, what works in one state may not work in another.

Great information - there's no better time to plan your summer garden than when winter is in full force. I always browse seed catalogs when I get tired of the cold!

Silvia:  When I moved to Dallas from Chicago, I had to change all my gardening practices, as the soil and climate were so different.

Wayne and Jean Marie:  We're lucky to have a few warm days to prepare our soil and plant early spring veggies!

Sharon I love the gardening classes.   Today I was suppose to attend a talk on Bees and Beekeeping but the weather got in the way :)
