I attended a meeting yesterday and as in most cases we had a guest speaker. This speaker is a well respected attorney for a large title company, and I learned an interesting fact.........
He told us that when a "Non US Citizen" sells property in the states that the "Buyer" could be responsible for withholding 10% of the gross sales price for the taxes due upon the sale.
Ten years in the business and I had never heard this. I suppose I have never heard this because its never come up but another example of why buyers and sellers need well educated professionals to help navigate them through the transaction.
