The "Academy" was established by the Sisters of Providence as the "Providence Academy" with construction beginning in the 1870's.  The Bricks and Lumber for construction were provided by the Hidden Brick Company.

Today the main building is a multi-tenant office building owned by the Ft. Vancouver HIstorical Trust, and can easily be seen from I-5 when driving through downtown.

Note: Hidden Bricks can be found throughout Vancouver and SW Washington.  Sometimes you'll see one as a part of a sidewalk with "Hidden" stamped on one side, and the Year on the other.

I am fascinated by the pictures of moss growing on the buildings.  Neat stuff!

Hi Myrl, we can sure grow the moss here if a location is kept in the shade, and moist.

PS - right now however, we are 10" behind in our rain-fall totals (since Oct. 1 - the start of our "Rain Year")

A facinating looking old building.  It looks like it just needs the right owner with a creative mind.

Hi Michael, I agree it would be a great addition to the property to have these buildings rescued, and put to good use!
