Developer plans for Joshua Tree

By
Real Estate Agent with Roberts Realty

Developer Steven Katz delivered a presentation about Joshua Tree Villas to the chamber of commerce Tuesday.  His development plans are to build five neighborhoods of 20 to 30 acres, each with a mix of single-family, multi-family and town houses.  A hotel is planned for the commercial portion, and Katz claimed that he has been contacted by Trader Joe's.  This is refreshing news compared to all of the REO's andf oreclosures that have seemed to dominate the real estate news lately.

Here is something I found:

Hi all,

As many of you may be aware, a developer named Steven Katz is proposing to build 2,700 homes on a square mile of pristine Joshua Tree wilderness, on the southeast corner of La Contenta and Highway 62, (directly across from the Joshua Tree Retreat Center). At a community meeting in March, residents were overwhelmingly opposed to this project. In response, a group of Joshua Tree residents has formed a new non-profit, the Joshua Tree Development Oversight Group (JTDOG). On September 23rd, JTDOG will hold its first fundraiser, a screening of the award-winning documentary, The Unforeseen.
Here are the details, which are also available on our website, www. jtdog. org:
