No Follow Through Screams It's Time to Move On
Those of us that always respond to messages have difficulty understanding why service providers are not always responsive.
This post by Clarksville real estate professional Debbie Reynolds reminds us that we just have to move on.

No Follow Through Screams It's Time to Move On
How frustrating it is when we ask other agents for information on their listings and they ignore our calls, snub our voicemails and emails and make it hard for us to do our jobs. The same thing can happen when a buyer calls to get information on a house. If the agent is not available or does not return a phone call or email promptly, a clear message is being conveyed.
No follow through screams it's time to move on. I wonder how much business is lost each day simply be failing to follow through. What is equally bad is when the agent says that he will send the information promptly and the promptly doesn't happen. It may take more calls and emails to actually get it. What a poor way to conduct business.Time is money and from an agent's standpoint I do not like begging for information that should be readily available. It makes my job so much harder. I know buyers don't like it either when they show interest in a property and the agent tends to blow them off. It makes us all look bad.
A similar thing happened when I contacted a website graphics designer that was referred to me by a business associate of his. Since I only had his phone number, I called and surprise...he answered the phone. I explained about the project and asked if he was interested. He asked me to email him more information and said he was interested. I did just what he asked and followed through.
For days I didn't hear anything from him so I called again and this time got his voicemail. I again stated the purpose of my call and that I hadn't heard whether he was really interested in quoting the project. A couple of days later I got an email back saying he needed some more reference websites to review and needed to communicate with our webhost to see if there would be any issues about access and integration. I sent all that information to him immediately.
Another week passed with no word so I emailed the webhost and guess what, he had not heard a word from the designer. Again I emailed the designer saying the webhost hadn't heard anything and neither had I. Was he interested or not? I even put a read receipt on my email. Nothing. Just how much can a girl take?
No follow through screams it's time to move on. This kind of service is not what I want. It is the same for buyers and agents working with other agents. Showing interest and being prompt shows you want to work with somebody. Failing to answer my calls, emails and not providing the information promised says to me that I am not important. I can hear this message loud and clear.
