5 Tips to Safeguard Your Family
Safety should always come first and where is the best place to start making safety precautions; your own home!
There are several common household hazards that can easily be avoided before they happen. If you just purchased your new home be sure to:
- Do a walk-through of your home. Once you have already moved in and started the uunpacking process check to see how stairway lighting is, check for lose electrical cords, check for unsecured rugs that could create a fall.
- Make a fire-safety plan. Once you have made one be sure to practice it. It should include multiple means of exit and one meeting spot.
- Stash household chemicals out of reach of children. Even if you do not have children, chances are someone you know will and they may make a surprise stop by to check out your new home. Be sure to either place chemicals out of reach of the little or lock cabinets.
- Fix wiggly receptacles. Electrical receptacles loosen over time so be sure to replace any loose electrical outlets so as not to cause a potential shock or a fire in which the fire safety plan will come in handy.
- Buy fire extinguishers. Place a fire extinguisher on every floor in your home. You never know when you may have to use one and you will be happy you went the extra mile and purchased one.
Of course there are many ways to safeguard your family and these are just a few of the easy things you can do to help you and your family be safe.
