Exit Stage Left - Pete Seeger Dies at 94

I note with sorrow the passing of folk singer and activist Pete Seeger in New York at the age of 94.

Seeger was a noted song writer, folk singer, banjo player and passionate political citizen for more than seventy public years.

I enjoyed his music with the Weavers and as a solo act.  He performed at colleges and small venues showing generations of kids that there was a great American brand of music and tradition that they might not get to hear on the radio.  He provided his name and his voice to many social causes over the years - but he always entertained.

Perhaps my favorite Seeger song was "We've Got Tonight"

A great American entertainer has left the stage.

My favorite was "Guantanamera."

Without Pete Seeger, do we ever have a Bob Dylan?

I had several wonderful opportunities to see Pete Seeger perform in person in that late 60s and early 70s. My favorite concert was a gig he did at Lehigh University circa 1972 ... he played the Virginia reel and we danced while he sang. It was awesome.

RIP Pete Seeger. We will miss you.
