Come One, Come All. Just Write It!!

JUST WRITE IT!  In defense of members who are not yet Rainmakers, don't forget that they may have wordpress or other blogs that they maintain in addition to their ActiveRain blog.

What's In Your Profile??  Also, when looking for referral agents for buyers or sellers, it's their profile and information contained in their posts that will attract me, not their ActiveRain status.

Writing Is An Acquired Skill.  Bloggers are still only a small percentage of real estate licensees.  Many industry members have little confidence in their writing skills.  They may not be ready to commit to the monthly fee to become a Rainmaker.   In fact, they may not yet be ready to commit to a regular schedule of blogging.

The Undercover Blogger.  There are many members who never post an article.  However, they do comment when they are inspired.  So, they must be reading our posts.

The Secret Observer.  I also get mail from readers commenting on something I wrote and when I search, they are nowhere to be found in a membership search.  Shucks.  I'll take a compliment where and when I can find it.

Come one, come all.

Lenn, I agree, writing is an acquired skill. I have at least one undercover blogger who follows me and leaves comments.

Pamela.  Those contacts, referrals and especially consumer mails don't require any rules.

How cool is that? To have secret observers. They were planning on just doing that and you inspired them to comment.

Lenn.... I think there are many real estate agents who are intimidated by the thought of writing to and for the general public....many know how to do business and could easily have an online presence by using realbird to promote their listings....along with animoto and you tube..... it's an online presence "made simple"....I do both....

Lenn, I say whatever floats your boat. Some may prefer to stay observers, lurkers or perhaps one fine day, they will decide to jump on board too!!

It is interesting to get a comment from someone who has not yet posted anything. In reading the posts of some active members, many did start out this way. Reading what others were writing until they became comfortable enough to get started themselves Lenn. It takes what it takes.

Lenn,  I could not agree with you more .... "Bloggers are still only a small percentage of real estate licensees."  I think it will take a long while before the paradigm shift takes place. So many are still doing old school marketing, which works but blogging takes a business to a whole new level.

I'm glad to say that I think few real estate agents will ever be bloggers.

Lenn- I remember the first time I uttered the word "blogger" to someone I know.  (not a friend)  Their faced looked as if they'd just tasted a sour lemon.  My writing skills have improved since starting this journey and will continue to improve (I hope.)  So come on... just start somewhere!

Beth.  All in good time.

Tom.  Indeed.  I get mail with questions about real estate from members who will not post.

Kathleen.  In some cases for the person who is blogging.

Brad.  The percentage grows but the curve is not steep.

Kathy.  Improving writing skills is one of the real benefits of blogging regularly.

I post like I talk and boy oh boy can I talk.  I'm not a writer who will stir your heart and so I have no great expectations of myself and thus am rarely disappointed

It does take time to develop a writing style and the key to honing that skill is practice. I read, and make my husband listen to, all of my blogs before I post them. I still have mistakes in them from time to time, but I JUST WRITE IT!

Liz.  I'm loughing out loud.  Writing to "stir hearts" is not always attractive to consumers who are looking for facts.

Shannon.  You're a tough taskmaster - on yourself.  Besides, one writer's "mistakes" is simply Lenn's "cosmetic language".

As a Rainmaker I would recommend that the new member highly consider becoming a Rainmaker and reach out to the market . . . . it works . . . . and it's cost effective.

Good luck and success.

Lenn, from what I see, there are few agents who have writing skills.  There are few people who have decent writing skills.  But luckily for a lot of us, the more we practice, the better we get.

Lenn, Some people are just not interested in writing and if they are willing to make a comment, I am also willing to take it. I appreciate even those members not posting blogs. They are providing clicks that get picked up by Google. Th more the merrier.

There are a little more than 357,000 AR members.  I don't know how many are active.  There are a million Realtors.  So if every AR member was a Realtor, which they are not, we would be a small part of the Realtor community Lenn.

Lou.  Cost effective if it's used.

Pat.  Agreed.  Writing is no more than an acquired skill.

Debbie.  I agree totally.  I don't even care if they lurk.  Sometimes they telephone.  That's O.K. too.

Conrad.  Indeed and that is part of the charm.
