Since my business is helping people buy and sell homes, you might think that I believe EVERYONE should buy a house. I make money if I sell houses after all. But.....sometimes people should NOT buy a house - not right now.
If you are a buyer who is considering quitting your job to go back to school - it may not be the right time to buy a house.
If you are a buyer who is pretty sure you'll be relocating across the country next year - it may not be the right time to buy a house (unless your plan is to turn the house into a rental & you know how that will work both financially & for managing it long distance).
If you are a buyer who will be pretty much depleting your savings account to scrape up the funds needed to close on a house - it may not be the right time to buy a house. The nature of home ownership is that there is ongoing maintenance to do as well as budgeting for the longer term or emergency things like a new roof or hot water heater.
I do LOVE selling homes to buyers & being able to share their joy & pride in becoming a home owner. But....if the time to buy is really next year....or in 5 years....then that's OK. When the time is truly right for you to be a home owner, then I'd be delighted to help you make that happen!
