Are you in the process of building, remodeling or simply needing to replace windows in you home?  Today’s construction market offers many window options. So many options it may be difficult to select the right window for your home. Discover the differences between wood, vinyl and fiberglass.

Fiberglass is the newer window option on the market.  The most recent market report released by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association and the Window & Door Manufacturers Association shows fiberglass with a 3.2% share of market, with 2.6% of remodeling/replacement.  This market share is up from just 2% in years past. More contractors are installing them because more homeowners are asking for them. One reason being the window comes without the frame expansion and contraction, which can cause vinyl windows to lose their dimensional integrity. In addition, there is little to no seal failure on fiberglass windows.  They are a product with longevity and more durability. For this reason more manufacturers including Marvin Windows and DoorsPella Corp., and Milgard Windows & Doors  are now offering fiberglass products.

Fiberglass windows do come with a higher price tag. It’s not likely that fiberglass sales will surpass vinyl and wood anytime soon, but it is becoming a product of demand as more consumers become informed.
