5 Things To Know About National School Choice Week In Tucson.

The National School Choice Week tour stopped in Tucson this week in an effort to promote increased education options promoting advantages of allowing parents and students to choose between charter schools, open enrollment into other school districts and home schooling.

Tucson was one of 14 cities to host the cross-country tour which began in Newark NJ and ends in San Francisco CA.   The festivities in Tucson included a rally at Old Tucson Studios featured dancers doing the “school choice” dance, students sharing how they’ve benefited from school choice, and local and state officials who addressed the crowd.

Here at 5 Things to know about Tucson’s (and Arizona’s) education system:

Arizona is among the states with the highest number of charter schools – a total of 532.

Tucson has 241 traditional, alternative and small charter schools.

Tucson has a total of 18 school districts.

Pima County has available several school options for your child:  public, private, virtual schooling, home schooling, and charter schools.

Pima County has 70 private schools.
