Goals for Goal Phobics: 2014 Business goals done Backwards
I have been doing new years resolutions and business goal setting for so many years, I cannot count. Not one year did I realize those goals. My basic nature is "SQUIRREL!"... off to something else until I find my goals in a pile to be filed. Ouch.
I was trying it again this year and vowing to really do it because we want to double our production. How do you do that? It sits looming out there while I keep doing the same thing and hoping for different results.
Goal
Here is my business goal... 80 significant voice to voice contacts per week. That is it. Now even I can do that.
My new strategy for my 2014 goal is based came from a book and a person.
The One Thing
First, I have read The One Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan twice so far. The entire book focuses on the research behind focusing on the one thing that by doing it makes everything else either easier or no longer necessary. I have been a compulsive multitasker until now. The hardest habit to break was not jumping ship to take care of something that comes up... breaking my focus. I am better. There must be multitasker anonymous club out there somewhere. I was ready to focus on one thing and get over the myth that it would be boring.
The power of a coach
Second, our team's business coach, Joe Arroyo (Keller Williams Mastery Coach) suggested it. He must have noticed my heart palpitations and clammy hands when he started talking about 2014 business plan. That iced it.
There are tools to do this for yourself...what would it take for you to gross a certain amount in a year. Joe calculated that for us and gave us the end result because we could handle that.
So far, I have not met it but for 3 weeks I have gotten closer. Last week, I was at 68. That feels like success. Just 12 more. It seems small to me, doable. Beginning next week, I am committing to 80, no matter what. Wish me luck!!
