Goodbye Real Estate, Hello Travel

By
Industry Observer

I left real estate over three years ago.  I needed and wanted a change.  I spent a couple of years playing ping-pong in my mind of what I really wanted to do with my life without succumbing to the 20th century invention that is known as a career.

I'm too independent to be locked in a cubicle or office.  I'm too free spirited to be pounding the phone all day trying to make a sale.  I am NOT a self appointed guardian of the status quo and putting people into a shit load of debt thinking they are going to live the American dream is simply absurd.  The American Dream?  How about the American debt slave?

For some, this is enjoyable and I commend your efforts.  For me, it was poisoning my soul and I needed out.  The 2008 financial crisis was a huge eye opener for the world.  After reading, researching, blogging and educating people on how the monetary (debt slave) system works, I had to leave real estate and leave it far behind in my rear view mirror.  It was a good choice for me because it allowed me to dig deep and find out what was important to me and how I could still give to others and continue to grow along my new path.

I lost all motivation to work 12+ hours a day and being defined by possessions.  I can no longer sit idle in the same location for the rest of my life.  The motivation to make millions of dollars in a system that requires endless hours, alienation of family and friends and to bleed the competition dry, is and will forever be disgusting to me in a system that is unfavorable to many.

Three plus years later and I am doing some teambuilding and have gotten into freelance travel writing and photography.  Will I make millions?  Probably not and that is not my intention.  I want a quality life filled with new experiences, locations, meeting new people, learning new cultures all while telling their stories...and mine.

I look forward to my new adventures however big or small they may be.  In the end it is not the destination that is exciting, it is the journey.  I am excited and ready to walk down my new path.

I found this thread. Apparently real estate was too tiring. It is never meant to be for everyone as it takes some real displine to get it going.

Network, network is what one needs to do.
