The Exotic zoo could be sabotaging your home sale

There are many things that can sabotage your home sale, a cluttered space, home in need of repairs and painting.  I have on occasion in the process of showing a house, walked into an exotic zoo.  Ferrets, Iguanas, birds, snakes and so much more

Iguana

How did my client react?  Not well, and neither did I.

Do you know how stressful it is wondering if you are going to encounter a snake after coming across moulting snake skin? or feel the sharp teeth of a Ferret?

Not to mention all the various scents which leave you gasping for air, and the variety of sounds of these animals that could be scary.

Seriously  do  you expect to get a buyer for your home?  Trust me you won’t, because buyers won’t hang around to check out the house.  They won’t notice the granite counters, the media room, that large first floor master suite or hardwood flooring.  The focus will be to get out of there before getting attacked. If there is a buyer who will stick this out you can count on getting a low offer.

So if you really want to get your home sold for the highest price lose that exotic zoo.

All in the day of a Realtor, this is one that reminds me of when I walked in with my client into an Aviary, exotic birds from all over Latin America...lots of noise we could hard get out fast enough:), Endre

Yes, I can see this being a big issue.  It definitely limits potential buyers as well as price.

I was on a listing appointment once where the living room was like an exotic zoo. They decided not to sell.

Jennifer, it's hard for buyers to imagine living in the exotic zoo atmosphere, if they don't like the sights and smells of exotic and not so exotic creatures! One look and breath and most buyers would request to leave the scene!
