So, you’ve decided to sell your house. You will need to interview potential real estate agents to help you through the process. You will need to trust someone to set the market value on one of the largest assets that you own.
You need to feel comfortable with that person. Beware of agents that start bragging about themselves and their success. These are important considerations when deciding on the right agent, however, you first need to know they care about what YOU need and what you expect from the sale. If the agent is not interested in finding out about your needs, then no matter how successful they are, they may seem like they are not listening to you.
Look for someone who comes in prepared well enough to explain the current real estate market and patient enough to take the time to show you how the present market may impact the sale of your home. That person needs to be a “teacher” to you and must be willing to take the time to tell you what you can expect during the sale of your home, not just someone who is trying to sell you on how great they are. Make sure that the agent has a personal interest and knowledge of your needs, time frame and expectations!
You have lots of agents to choose from. Get recommendations from people that you know. Make sure that the agent is knowledgeable about the area in which you live. Sit down with that agent and get to know him. You need to feel comfortable with putting the sale of your home in the hands of someone you can trust!
