Buyers: It is Okay to be Afraid, Buying a Home is a BIG Decision
Even though I have helped hundreds of buyers purchase a home, every buyer is different in the way that they approach the home buying process.
There are buyers that sweat the small stuff. They want to look over all the information. Bring in extra sets of eyes. Talk to the lender and run all the worse case and best case numbers. Nothing wrong with that! I am not the one paying the mortgage, you are! Take your time to make sure that this home is comfortable for you in every aspect. Knowing exactly what the payment will be, gives you the knowledge to know when to walk away and when to jump for joy in negotiations.
There are buyers that look at a home for 20 minutes and don't need to look at it again. They read the disclosure, ask a few questions. But they know that the inspection will take care of the rest of their unknowns and are ready to move forward.
There are buyers that agonize over every decision. Often they fall in love with two completely different homes. There are great things about each of them. Sometimes buyers wait too long and lose one of their options. It is okay. If it is meant to be, there is no harm in sleeping on it.
It is a big decision and one of the biggest financial commitments you will make in your life. Whether you need friends and parents to give a second option, or talk to your lender about all of the options, or just take your time and make sure that nothing else seems to be better for you and your family, there is no wrong way to buy a home!
