A terrible motor vehicle accident occurred on a Colorado State – undivided highway last week. An elderly driver’s attempted to illegally pass a third vehicle on a double-yellow line sticking an on coming vehicle.. The elderly driver of the vehicle was 83 years old.
This accident brings attention to the discussion on driving abilities of Senior Drivers. Please do not take it wrong, they are great people, yet some of them should not be driving. Lord willing, we all, will someday be faced with the question “ At my age, should I be driving”? . Perhaps our legislators need to look at yearly driving test for seniors over the age of 75.
Perhaps you know of a senior that needs to consider continuing to drive. Perhaps you can have a good discussion with that senior. AARP in conjunction with The Hartford Company have a great booklet available “We need to talk ...Family conversations with older drivers. The booklet brings up good topic for the discussion. This is a vital discussion, the life you save may be your own and or a love one.
