trending-on-facebookFacebook is constantly innovating its application.  2014 is no exception. My colleague, Rachel Perez, recently published a post about a new tool introduced by Facebook. The social media giant has adopted a “Trending” feature located on the upper right hand side of your page. “The list is personalized, including topics based on things you are interested in and what is trending across Facebook overall,” says Engineering Manager Chris Struhar. The new feature was set forward when Facebook noticed its growing popularity, predominantly through Twitter. Facebook is more than aware of the success of their rival and have also adopted the use of hashtags within statuses and comments.

Facebook Trending Helps Your Business Drive Engagement
The use of “trending topics” is a great source of unique content for your company’s social media pages and helps you drive engagement. Don't be afraid to post statuses to your Facebook business page which are not salesy, but rather tie into trending topics. This will increase your likes, comments and, therefore, visibility. Facebook has a unique algorithm that makes many posts invisible on your News Feed. The algorithm is based on interests. The more you like something from an individual, the more likely you are to see their posts on your News Feed. Otherwise, Facebook hides it. For example, if your Aunt Mary regularly posts to Facebook, but you do not regularly Like her posts or comment on them, chances are you will stop seeing Aunt Mary's posts in your News Feed.

Use Your Marketing Creativity To Leverage Facebook Trending Data
The new Facebook trending feature is an easy way to see what is of interest at any given time. While relevance and your interests also slim this feature down, friends and fans may also share these interests. Be the first to post about an event in the community, an interesting news story, or a funny anecdote and get that coveted engagement. Some companies choose to work with an online marketing partner to help manage these ever changing tactics. If that sounds like a good option to you, please contact me for a fre consultation. For less than $10 per day your business can be in expert hands for social media management.
