Traffic cameras on school buses in Montgomery County, Maryland
The Montgomery County, Maryland public schools now have traffic cameras on several school buses and additional cameras are being installed each month. The buses are being wired so staff will be able to move the traffic cameras to different buses.
Drivers that are caught on camera as they pass stopped school buses will be charged $125 for the violation. If you let another family member or a friend borrow your car, you may be responsible if they illegally pass a stopped school bus. If you are a careless driver, you may be thankful that your actions are caught by a camera rather than a police officer.
When a police officer catches a motorist passing a stopped school bus, the citation will be for a $570 fine and three points on their license. Be careful when you are driving and obey the local traffic laws.
