Want success in 2014? Think about the Olympics and go for the gold!

With the start of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi today, it made me think how the athletes can inspire and motivate us to accomplish great things for our real estate business this year.  Consider the mental and physical preparation that the athletes endure leading up to their events.  Their intent is to perform flawlessly and better than any of their competitors.  I'm sure most (if not all of them) are thinking, failure is NOT an option.  They want that gold medal.

I'm going to challenge myself in 2014 and I pose the same to you, my fellow real estate professionals.

  • Push those goals farther than you originally considered.  Have your "go for" goals and your "promise" goals.  I will go for X amount of transactions but promise a minimum of Y.
  • Establish a routine schedule for working on your business, such as blogging on ActiveRain every Tuesday at 10am.  Short of a life-threatening emergency, don't let anything distract you from that schedule.
  • Have someone hold you accountable just as the Olympian has their coach.

We hear it time and time again.  If you put your mind to it, write down your goals and hold yourself accountable (no excuses), you can accomplish great things.  This year, I want to perform better than ever.  I want to outperform many of my associates.  I want to improve and expand on my brand.  This year I want that gold medal!
