Did you know that the ostriches participating in the Ostrich Races are raised for show in Kansas? Apparently there are no show ostriches raised in Arizona, which strikes me as a little strange, since we have both an Ostrich Festival and the (purportedly) largest ostrich ranch in the nation (Rooster Cogburn's Ostrich Ranch just off Interstate 10 at Picacho Peak). I have to admit, I'm glad you didn't include the stuff about commemorating Chandler's history of ostrich ranching, like so many other sites. Since few contained any additional information on that history, I did some research and came up with the information in "The Ostrich in Chandler's Ostrich Festival", published at http://www.hotelsbycity.net/blog/usa_arizona_phoenix/ (I am phoenixblogger3) but I really would have preferred just going and enjoying the many activities on this beautiful weekend. It's the first time I've attended since they moved out to Tumbleweed Park.
