Shoveling, Shoveling, Shoveling...

Want to know what daily life is like in the Northern Mid-West? Particularily in winter?  Well Mother Nature bestows random work upon you without consulting your schedule, and shoveling snow becomes a routine part of life.  Here is my driveway taken just 2 days ago after a recent shoveling project dealt to my area by Ms Nature.

What is interesting as the snow piles up higher and higher is that the effort to toss the next shovel full over the hill becomes more challenging and exhausting.  Some places in town such as shopping malls and commercial streets have a hard time finding places to put the snow, as we have had very little melting in over 6 weeks.

Not all is terrible though.  I looked at the weather channel this morning and does indicate we might see a day or two in the 40's in a week, so that is good news.  Spring cannot come soon enough!

Michael,

I definitely feel for you. We've had more snow this year that has stuck than normal, so we to have been shoveling.

Thanks for sharing your photographs. Fortunately we only had a light covering of snow this morning. I am ready to retire the snow shovel. Enough is enough!

Michael,

It is an ugly day today here not out of the 40's and rainy, but I will not complain compared to the rest of the country!

Michale, not only do the snow piles get bigger, the drive ways get narrower.  I guess the only good thing is that you are getting a workout without having to go to the gym!

Michael, That is a lot of snow!  Unfortunately, snow shoveling is a common wintertime activity in areas that receive snow, I do hope that Spring comes soon!

We have deep snow in Maryland this morning. Local residents are not accustomed to dealing with this much snow!

Hi Michael,

Good thing you are shoveling that snow or you would not be getting out the driveway especially after the snowplows show up. Great photo and hope the next few weeks are mild.

We have a sunny Friday morning and are hoping that some of the ice will melt before our next round of snow on Saturday.

Happy Valentine's Day!

It sounds like we could get six to eight inches tonight and into tomorrow....I feel your pain.  And, I will likely feel my own after shoveling tomorrow, too.

Michael, here’s hoping Spring will soon be here, the snow will begin to melt by itself, and the snow-shoveling season will be over!
